Seyran Ohanyan Meets the Armenian Youth in the Diaspora

On the 14th of July, 2010, in the RA MoD Administrative Complex, Minister of Defence Seyran Ohanyan met the members of “Depi Hayk” fund. Greeting the over 50 Armenian youth from the Diaspora and underlining the importance of the event Seyran Ohanyan briefly touched upon the history of the formation of the RA AF and the phases of its development. He put a special emphasis on the fact that our army was created in wartime.
The RA MoD stated that after 1994 – the May armistice – a new quality army-building process started and over years both the troop management and the armaments were improved and the level of the staff readiness increased. As a result of this today we have an efficient and stabile army, which is the security guarantee for Armenians.

The Minister also underlined upon the RA MoD cooperation with different departments and NGOs and the events which are aimed at improving the military-patriotic and patriotic education of the youth. Emphasizing the importance of the Armenian Diaspora for the country’s prosperity Seyran Ohanyan stated that during the years of the Artsakh war the role of the Diaspora was enormous and several Diaspora youngsters participated in the holly business of protecting the Motherland. And today the constant visits of the Armenian Diaspora youth are very pleasant. Then the Minister of Defence answered some questions from the youngsters, which mainly concerned the process of NK conflict settlement, the warlike announcements from the Azerbaijani side, the chances of restarting a war and the RA AF efficiency. At the end of the meeting the members of “Depi Hayk” fund thanked the Minister of Defence for his cordial reception and hoped that such meetings will be continuous. The Diaspora youth will also visit some Army detachments and will witness the daily life of the soldiers. RA MoD Department of Information and Public Affairs
