The ARM Minister of Defence received the special representative of NATO General Secretary

On 15 September 2010 the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Mr. Seyran Ohanyan met with the delegation headed by NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative in Caucasus and Central Asia Mr. Robert Simmons. During the meeting issues related to the regional security, Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan amendment with new defence related objectives and Armenian participation in NATO led multinational operations were discussed. The counterparts highly appreciated the progress of Armenia in implementation of Defence Reforms and Individual Partnership Action Plan.

In response to the inquiry of Minister Ohanyan on the future of Partnership in the context of NATO’s new Strategic Concept, Mr. Simmons assured that the relations with the South Caucasus Partners will remain a priority for NATO. In regard with conformation of this cooperation to the Partners’ needs Armenia has done it through the Individual Partnership Action Plan and other sub-programs, which is exemplary in its nature. The Minister of Defence of Armenia underlined the importance of the position of NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative in Caucasus and Central Asia and expressed his gratitude to Mr. Simmons for his productive activities during the past 7 years.
