Khachaturov congratulated Tonoyan on the appointment as defence minister, wished him success in future activities.

He also briefed Minister Tonoyan on the preparation works of the CSTO Defence Ministers Council meeting, set to be held in Astana on 23 May.

Tonoyan spoke about the importance of the CSTO role in ensuring Armenia’s security and the need to develop the military component of the organisation. He assured that Armenia will continue to make constructive efforts for further development the organisation and enhancement of its international reputation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to international and regional regional security as well as other issues of bilateral interest.
