Vigen Sargsyan visited Gergharqunik and Tavush
14 February, 2017 15:47The visit commenced in the city of Vardenis, where the Ministers of Defense and Health acquainted themselves with the conditions at the city and garrisson hospitals and discussed questions concerning the combination of medical institutions, and expressed the importance of ensuring the best conditions for private citizens and military servicemen.
Thereafter, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan visited one of the combat outposts situation on the northern portion of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. Walking through the trenches, the Minister acquainted himself with the conditions surrounding combat duty, the morale of the troops and the state of the various constructs, while also encouraging the servicemen.
The next stop was the Vahan community of the Gegharqunik region. The Ministers of Defense and Health and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces met with the leaders of the region, and its residents. Greeting the participants, Vigen Sargsyan noted that the border-adjacent residential areas of the Republic of Armenia are always in the center of attention of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia. Having heard the issues raised by the residents, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff highlighted the fact that the defense of the villager living close to the border is in trustworthy hand, and that no effort is being spared to increase the level of security in front-line positions.
During the visit, the delegation also visited one of the military camps of the 3rd army corps, where ongoing construction is coming to an end. One of the military bases of the corps will continue its service in more modern and comfortable premisces. In the new military camp, Vigen Sargsyan acqauinted himself with the completed and ongoing works, and listened to the reports presented by the commanders of the 2nd and 3rd corps.
The day long visit was concluded in Berd. The Ministers of Defense and Health acquainted themselves with the conditions of the premisces of the military and civilian hospitals, and discussed questions concerning the combination of medical institutions.
During the conversation with journalists, the Ministers of Defense and Health summarized the visit and emphasized the importance and effectiveness of acquainting oneself and discussing issues first hand, on the spot.
