The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia has taken part in the meeting of the military committee of the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization

On January 17th, the delegation led by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, lieutenant-general Movses Hakobyan took part in the meeting of the military committee of the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization taking place on the level of chiefs of staff in the NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Two sessions took place during the meeting. One was for countries taking part in the "Decisive Support" mission in Afghanistan and the other for countries taking part in the "partnership interoperability" initiative. The "Decisive Support" meeting was dedicated to exchange of opinion and coordination of planning guidelines concerning the commitments undertaken by coalition countries in Afghanistan. The "Partnership Interoperability" was dedicated to discussing the development operational compatibility between partner countries and questions concerning enhancement of international stability.
Following the meetings, lieutenant-general Movses Hakobyan met with the president of the committee of US armed forces chiefs of staff, general Joseph Denford. During the meeting questions concerning the priority of Armenian-American defense cooperation and future possibilities for its development, especially in the context of participation in international peacekeeping efforts.
