The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia has discussed development of Armenian-Georgian relations

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan, who was on an official visit to Georgia, had meetings with the president of the defense and security commission of the Georgian parliament, Irakli Sesiashvilli, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikhail Janelize, on December 22nd.

During the meetings, the friendly relations between Armenia and Georgia, the development potential of cooperation in various fields, and other questions of mutual interest were discussed during the meetings. The parties also spoke about questions concerning the maintenance and reinforcement of regional security and stability, and reaffirmed the readiness of both governments to develop cooperation.

On the same day, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of the Armenia visited the Armenian Cathedral of St. George in Tbilisi, and met with the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan as well as other clergymen.

The delegation led by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia also visited the "Hayartun" educational-cultural and youth center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, along with leaders of the Samskhe-Javakhq region and community organizations.

During the meeting, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia expressed his high regard for the role of the Armenian church in the lives of Armenians in Armenia and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the Diaspora. He spoke about the reforms taking place in the Armed Forces, and programs of cooperation with various Diaspora structures, as part of the nation-army concept.

In Tbilisi, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia held a meeting with representatives of Georgian civil society.
