Discussion of programs carried out in cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the European Council

On October 20th, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan received the head of the Department of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Secretariat of the European Council, Phillip Buaya.

During the meeting, ongoing and future human rights projects taking place in cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the European Council were discussed. Valuing the aid provided by the European Council in this regard, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia expressed the necessity of systematic cooperation and the implementation of programs aimed at strengthening human rights, anti-corruption measures, and ethics in the Armed Forces. These programs will include expertise in both institutional and legislative reform.
Phillip Buaya in turn expressed content with regards to the transparent work that has taken place thus far, and a readiness to continue close cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, utilizing the full spectrum of available research and consulting resources.
