Battalion-level strategic military exercises have taken place

In accordance with the 2016 preparation plan of the armed forces, military exercises between the joint forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have held military exercises at the Alagyaz training center.

Participating in the exercises, which included live firing, were subdivisions from the 5th army corps and the 102nd base in Gyumri.

The aim of the exercise was to harmonize operations carried out by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, during probably combat operations.

The finale of the exercises took place on October 7th, and was overseen by the commanding staff of the 5th army corps and the 102nd military base, representatives of local government, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Ivan Volinkin.

In accordance with the idea of the military exercise, the imaginary adversary, violating the state border of the Republic of Armenia, is stuck in the defensive zone of the joint forces. The adversary's progress was halted as a result of powerful artillery strikes. A decision was made concerning application of the 2nd line of striking groups. The adversary was repelled and the border was restored as a result of the harmonized actions of the joint forces of the Armenian and Russian armed forces, which are under the command of Major-General Andranik Makaryan.

All participants in the military exercise exhibited a high level of combat preparedness and cooperation in the field of battle. Particularly outstanding servicemen were rewarded by the commanding staff.
