On July 27th, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan held a meeting concerning "military history" for over a dozen participants of the summer school at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense.

The Minister of Defense read a lecture concerning the formation of the Army and the nuances of the military operations that took place during the Artsakh liberation war. Seyran Ohanyan expressed assurances that such meetings will become a thing of tradition, and will aid the development of the study of military history.

"The uniqueness of the Armenian army can be separated into two categories, which are national and military. National uniqueness comes from the fact that we have been able to reach success as a result of the unity and strength. A system of management has formed in the army, and discipline has improved. As far as military uniqueness is concerned, although the Armenian army is young and newly formed, all combat operations took place in accordance with the demands of contemporary military science," said the Minister of Defense, adding that during the Artsakh war, there were many cases which proved the concept of "solving big issues with limited resources," often taking down an entire military with just one company or platoon. In this regard, the Minister placed a large degree of importance in personal example provided by the commanding staff as well as good knowledge of the positions. Speaking of the modern challenges facing the Armed Forces, the Minister noted that today, the Armenian military is in an active stage of reforms, and that the reforms implemented in the Army within the last several years have had an exclusively positive impact on the development of the Armed Forces. It was emphasized, that reforms are going to be continuous.

At the end of the lecture, Seyran Ohanyan also answered questions raised by the listeners.

We would like to remind you that the "Military history" lecture series began on July 1st. Throughout the lecture series, the participants had an opportunity to meet with military experts, historians and analysts. The aim of the initiative was to acquaint listeners with the key issues of international and Armenian military history.
