A Cooperation Plan Between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and The Armenian Branch of the Population Fund of the United Nations has been Signed

On July 26th, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan received the permanent representative of the United Nations in the Republic of Armenia. Bradley Buzetto and representatives of the Armenian branch of the Population Fund of the United Nations.

During the meeting, questions concerning cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and Population Fund over the past two years have been discussed, including the question of the role of women in the sphere defense and its expansion, in the context of equal opportunities. Seyran Ohanyan emphasized the importance of not only the population fund, but also the strengthening of cooperation with other specialized institutions within the United Nations, as a necessary source and guide for the execution of Armenia's responsibilities on the international arena, the continuity of the reform process in the defense sphere of the Republic of Armenia, and the protection of human rights in the Armed Forces.

The permanent representative of the United Nations in the Republic of Armenia, Bradley Buzetto, expressed his gratitude for past cooperation, and emphasized his willingness to expand its scope. Representative of the Population Fund, G. Hayrapetyan, in turn noted that the best example of cooperation between the Fund and the Ministry of Defense is that concerning women's rights in defense issues.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the 2016 plan for cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and the UN Population Fund was signed.
