Works Carried Out by the Military Police Over the Last Semester have Been Summarized

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan held a working consultation at the Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, during which the works carried out by the Military Police in the first half of this year were summarized. Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Ara Nazaryan also took part in council.

Reports were made by Chief of the Military Police, Major-General Samvel Ghukasyan, chief of the headquarters of the military police Colonel Armen Mnatsakanyan, deputy chief of the military police Colonel Aram Baghdasaryan, and Stanislav Havhanissyan.

The head of the defense administration was presented with results of the works carried out to reduce crime in military bases and other tasks. Those works were aimed at increasing discipline in the armed forces, preventing, discovering and reducing crime, and revealing circumstance and reasons for negative manifestations of disciplinary actions. During the consultation, future works were also discussed. The major directions for future work are the maintenance of official relations in military bases, the prevention of negative behavior in military bases, crime fighting, and works aimed at increasing the effectiveness of preventive and disciplinary actions.

Chief of the Military Police, Major-General Samvel Ghukasyan presented the result of works carried out by the military police in the first half of 2016, pointing out positive results and shortcomings. He emphasized the fact that serious works have been carried out to ensure the transparency of the draft process. As a result of strategy, tactics and the implementation of relevant experience by military police of other countries, serious crimes and transgressions have been reduced, corruption risks have been reduced and discipline has been strengthened.

Summarizing the results of the consultation, Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan emphasized the importance of works being carried out with the commanding staff of military bases, since improvements in military discipline can take place only if a healthy service environment is created through works with the commanding staff.

Seyran Ohanyan issued recommendations and orders aimed at increasing the efficiency of works carried out in the future by the military police.
