The 2017 joint activities of the armed forces of CIS member-states have been predetermined

On June 15th, the delegation headed by RA Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan attended the regular session of CIS’ Council of Defence Ministers.

In compliance with the agenda of CIS’ Council of Defence Ministers, around 20 issues regarding further development of the multilateral military cooperation have been overviewed.

The Council of Defence Ministers confirmed the main directions and events for military cooperation until the year 2020; discussed and suggested to present the CIS Council of Heads of State with the draft of the aerospace defence concept.

The 2017 joint activities of the armed forces of CIS member-states – which involve the organization of international army competitions and the creation of the international military games association – have been predetermined. Discussions were held on military education, the protection of state secrets, and other fields requiring development.

On the same day, RA Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan had a private meeting with RF Defence Minister, General of the Army Sergey Shoygu. The Defence Ministers touched upon the strengthening of cooperation in the sphere of defence, the expansion of military-technical collaboration, as well as issues presenting mutual interest – aimed at the deepening of strategic relations.
