Armenian servicemembers participate in multinational military exercises

The “Saber Junction-2016” multinational military exercise, conducted in the U.S. Army Joint Multinational Readiness Center located in Hohenfels (FRG), to which a 32-member medical unit of the RA Armed Forces has been participating since March 29th 2016, is coming to an end. Nearly 5000 service members from 16 countries participate at the military exercise.

Throughout the exercise, the Armenian team provided ROLE II medical support in accordance with NATO standards and the U.S. EMEDS system mobile field hospital of the Armenian Armed Forces deployed for the first time abroad. The medical unit of the RA Armed Forces taking part in the multinational military exercises provided evacuation of casualties, first aid, stabilization of wounded and surgical interventions in replicated combat conditions. Commander of the U.S. Army Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges arrived to the exercise site in order to observe it, where he also met with the Armenian servicemen.

The given exercise will strengthen the efficiency of the EMEDS system mobile field hospital staff of the Armenian Armed Forces in delivering urgent medical care in combat conditions and will increase their level of interoperability in the multinational environment.
