13 May, 2015 00:00For surprise inspection purposes, the rapid reaction forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) were brought to a high level of combat readiness on May 12. Upon the CSTO Collective Security Council’s decision, the forces will be regrouped for the performance of tasks and will be sent to any CSTO destination area thereafter.
The subdivision of the Armenian Armed Forces involved in the surprise inspection has been brought to a high level of combat readiness. In the morning of May 13, appropriate uniforms, weapons and military equipment were loaded on planes belonging to the ARM AF. The ARM AF subdivision is prepared to perform tasks within any CSTO area of responsibility.
The Collective Rapid Reaction Force was created for the general purpose of countering a limited military aggression against CSTO member states, to fight against terrorism and drug trafficking. The force includes military subdivisions member states. The CSTO is an intergovernmental military alliance consisting of six member states: Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The objective of the organization is to ensure the safety of its states through collective measures.
