Yerkarpah Day
8 May, 2015 00:00May 8 is observed as the Yerkrapah Day in Armenia and it is celebrated on the anniversary of the liberation of the City of Shushi, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. According to tradition, many people gathered in the YVU Headquarters and the Yerablur Pantheon to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of the Karabakh War.
ARM Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, National Assembly President Galust Sahakyan, YVU Board Chairman Manvel Grigoryan, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, and several other senior officials attended the events held in the YVU HQ.
In addition, a shrine, a learning center for the Young Yerkrapahs, a physical training square, a library, and a museum also formally opened on the same day.
On the occasion of this day, YVU Board Chairman Manvel Grigoryan officially opened a
cross-stone park at the fully renovated YVU HQ. After the opening of the cross-stone park, those in attendance headed for the Yerablur Military Pantheon, where they placed flowers to the tombs of the Armenian soldiers of the Karabakh War.
The attendants placed flowers to the tombs of late PM, Supreme Commander Vazgen Sargsyan and General Andranik Ozanyan.
YVU Board Chairman Manvel Grigoryan, for his part, congratulated the Armenian people on the Yerkrapah Day, and stated that the Armenians will get stronger and become even more combat-ready. Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan noted that the Armenian Yerkrapah have had a special role in the Karabakh War.
