During the meeting, the parties discussed Armenian peacekeepers’ service in the UNIFIL Mission, Armenia’s involvement in international missions, possible increase of the number of Armenian peacekeepers in the UNIFIL Mission, and other issues of mutual interest. After visiting the UNIFIL Mission Headquarters, the delegation headed by the ARM Defence Minister travelled to the Shamma military camp, met with Armenian peacekeepers, acquainted themselves with the conditions of their service, as well as the performance of their tasks. Seyran Ohanyan stressed the importance of the involvement of Armenian peacekeepers in UNIFIL Mission and thanked them for their service. Throughout his visit the Minister of Defence held a meeting with the representatives of the Armenian-Lebanese community, during which both sides emphasized on the Homeland-Diaspora relationship. The representatives of the community stressed the importance of the presence of Armenian troops in Lebanon and expressed their gratitude to the Armenian peacekeepers. ARM Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan awarded Shahen Kandaharyan, editor of “Aztag Daily” Lebanese newspaper, with the “Drastamat Kanayan” medal.
