Seyran Ohanyan presented the interlocutor with the situation on the frontline, while emphasizing on the escalation of tensions since the beginning of the year and on the necessity for the international community to urge the Azerbaijani side to restrain themselves. The ARM Minister of Defense also stressed the importance of confidence-building measures amongst conflicting parties. Herbert Salber expressed concern over the escalating number of accidents on the border, noted that the EU recognizes OSCE Minsk Group’s leading role in the settlement issue of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expressed readiness to contribute to the negotiation process as much as possible.
