Joint Statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and US Embassy in Armenia

Today, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Armenia H.E John Heffern have discussed the recent tensions along the line of contact of Nagorno Karabagh and the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Both the Ambassador and the Minister of Defense have expressed deep concern for the recent increase in tensions and have explored ways to de-escalate the situation primarily through the Minsk Group process. The Ambassador Heffern has expressed condolences to the families of soldiers who lost their lives during recent events and urged de-escalation from all sides.
