ARM MoD delegation`s visit to Austria

On February 24, Deputy Federal Minister of Defence and Sport of Austria and the Head of the Defence Policy Department, Lieutenant General Bernhard Bair received a delegation in Vienna, led by the First Deputy Defence Minister of Armenia Davit Tonoyan.

Amongst the attendees of the meeting from the Armenia side, were the Ambassador of Armenia to Austria, A. Kirakosyan, Deputy Ambassador A. Aleqsanyan and the Head of Defence Policy Department of the ARM MoD L. Ayvazyan. The current issues and prospects of the Armenian-Austrian cooperation were on the discussion agenda. The parties presented the process of reforms, carried out in defence sectors of the both countries, touching upon the similarities and differences of the issues as states having no access to sea. Austrian side has presented to the Armenian delegation, Austria`s security policy strategic review, jointly written by the Austrian Prime Ministry, Foreign Ministry and Ministries of Defence and Internal Affairs. Sides have touched upon the issues of contract servicemen in the armed forces, their social benefits and recruitment as well as programming problems. The Austrian side has expressed its willingness to deepen cooperation with the Armenian Armed Forces on various directions, including the involvement of the Armenian servicemen in educational programs as well as organization of training courses for servicemen in Armenia and Austria.
