The consultation of the Republican military conscript commission took place

On November 16, an extended consultation of the Republican conscription commission took place at the administrative building of the ARM MoD. During the consultation results of the summer conscription of 2013 and other issues related to the proper organization and conduct of the winter conscription were summarized.

The consultation, chaired by Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan, was attended by government officials, representatives of law enforcement agencies, governors, heads of district military registration and enlistment offices and officials from relevant departments, members of the military medical commission, and representatives of other agencies supporting the conduct of conscription. In his opening speech, Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan emphasized the necessity of the event, noting that armed forces recruitment is one of the most important issues of the defence system. The Defence Minister noted with satisfaction that the organization of enlistment has become more transparent in the recent years due to joint activities of agencies and institutions involved in the process. Head of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Yuri Khachaturov presented a report on the results of summer conscription and preparations for the winter enlistment. Head of General Staff introduced positive aspects and recorded shortfalls of the process and some statistical data showing that during the enlistment issued tasks were successfully implemented. He also addressed activities carried out by the military registration and enlistment offices and medical commissions. In general, registration and recruitment of young people, use of sanctions again those who avoid medical examination, need to enhance the role of the physical training in educational institutions and several other issues relating to maintenance of principles of transparency and equity in the process of enlistment. In his final remarks, Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan summed up the outcomes and expressed his gratitude to those present at the consultation for the collaborative work. The Defence Minister stated with confidence that due to the close cooperation between all agencies involved in the process of enlistment, the upcoming conscription will be carried out more effectively. He also gave directions to improve the enlistment organization. At the end of the consultation, a number of servicemen, representatives of military registration and enlistment offices, medical commissions and other agencies in charge were awarded with departmental medals, certificates and valuable gifts for effective organization, conduct and active participation in the process.
