Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia receives representatives of CSTO PA

On 30 October Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan received members of the Standing Committee on Defence and Security at the Collective Security Treaty Organisation Parliamentary Assembly (CSTO PA).

The meeting was attended by members of delegations from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan presented the current s military -political situation in the region, outlining the fact that several military and political changes in the region in the course of the last few years could not but give rise to concerns, including bellicose statements and arms race on part of Azerbaijan, the increase of ceasefire violations across the Armenian-Azeri border, anti-Armenian propaganda, etc. Members of the Standing Committee on Defence and Security at the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly agreed that serious actions need to be taken to improve the regional military and political situation and to respond to existing threats and challenges. A broad range of issues concerning military- political and military- economic cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.
