The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to the Republic of Armenia His Excellency John Heffern. The parties discussed matters relative to the present negotiation process in regards to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the current situation between the forces of the conflicting sides across the contact line. Both interlocutors emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire regime, easing tensions across the contact line, as well as implementing mutual confidence building measures between the conflicting sides. Seyran Ohanyan presented his reasonings about the measures for strengthening mutual confidence across the contact line.
