A Tribute to Homeland Defender

On the 23rd of February to commemorate the Homeland Defender’s Day Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, ARM AF General Staff Head General-Colonel Yuri Khachaturov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of RF in Armenia Vyacheslav Kovalenko, high-ranking officers and servicemen of the Republic of Armenia and Russian Federation and representatives of diplomatic missions visited “Haghtanak” (Victory) park.

The participants put wreaths and flowers on the memorial stone of the Unknown Soldier, paying tribute to soldiers who were killed defending homeland. The event ended with a solemn march of the Armenian and Russian soldiers. In the Russian Federation the 23rd of February is celebrated as the Homeland Defender Day. As in a number of CIS countries, also in the Republic of Armenia according to the formed tradition, events devoted to the homeland defender are held on that day.
