NATO assessment team`s visit to Armenia

From February 25 to March 1, NATO`s assessment team was in Armenia, to review the progress on commitments of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) and the Planning and Review Process (PARP).

On February 25, the team visited the Armenian Peacekeeping Brigade of the Ministry of Defense, where they were briefed on activities of the brigade, with a reference to the participation of the unit in the international peace support operations, capability building and interoperability improvement processing in the brigade. On February 26 to 27, the assessment team had meetings with representatives of the various departments of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed forces discussing the fulfilment of commitments assumed by the Republic of Armenia. On February 28, Guy Gerbeau, the head of the NATO assessment team was hosted by Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan. At the meeting the NATO expert reported the findings of the assessment visit. In his turn the Minister of Defense awarded Mr. Gerbeau with the medal of ``Military cooperation`` ,appreciating Mr.Gerbeau`s long-term contribution to strengthening the interoperability of Armenia`s defense agency`s with NATO. The results of the assessment team`s visit were summarized and evaluated during the meeting with the First Deputy Defense Minister D.Tonoyan. The discussion also outlined the future directions for implementation of Armenia`s commitments in cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance.
