On October 11 2007 Armenian Defense Minister Michael Haroutounyan received the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Debra Cagan, who is paying a two-day visit to Armenia. US Charge d’Affaires a.i. Rudolf Perina also participated in the meeting.

The parties talked about developments of the current stage of bilateral military relations between Armenian-American, as well as defense reforms in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, and US assistance programs to the Armed Forces of RA. On behalf of the US Government and citizens Debra Cagan expressed deep gratitude to the Government and Defense Ministry of RA for the contribution of Armenian peacekeeping contingent during their missions in Iraq. The representative of the US Department of Defense personally met with Armenian peacekeepers in Iraq and considers them as courageous and brave soldiers.
