Minister of Defence received the newly appointed commander of the Russian Peacekeeping Contingent in Nagorno Karabakh
28 April, 2023 13:49On April 28, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received Colonel General Alexander Lentsov, the newly appointed commander of the Russian Peacekeeping Contingent in Nagorno Karabakh.
The meeting was attended by Sergey Kopirkin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia, Colonel Igor Shcherbakov, the defence attache and Major General Andrey Volkov, the former Commander of the Peacekeeping Force.
The RA Minister of Defence congratulated Colonel General Alexander Lentsov on assuming office and wished him success in peacekeeping mission.
The sides discussed the operational situation and existing problems around Nagorno-Karabakh and in the area of responsibility of the peacekeeping contingent, as well as a range of topics in relation to increasing the effectiveness of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Minister underlined the importance of implementation of all points of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020 and emphasized the need to take all measures to unblock the Lachin Corridor as soon as possible.
