ARMENIA TAKES 3RD PLACE IN 5TH CIS WARRIOR INTERNATIONAL CONTEST

The 5th Warrior of Commonwealth international contest was held the Russian capital, Moscow, from September 29 to October 5. Representatives of the armed forces of CIS countries - Armenia, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan -- took part in it. The Armenian Armed Forces team was represented by Artur, Sahak and Davit Hovhannisyans, the cadets of the Ryazan Airborne Higher Military College, and Tatevik Nersisyan, a technician-operator at Armenia’s Vazgen Sargsyan Military Institute. The group was led by Lt. Col. Armen Hovhannisyan, who is a trainer at the Military Institute’s Physical Training and Sport Chair.

The participants competed in five categories: Athlete; Professional; Sniper; Erudite; and Cavalier. Arthur Hovhannisyan took the first place in the Athlete category. Sahak Hovhannisyan was the second in the Erudite nomination showing brilliant knowledge of the heroic deeds of Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War and other historic events. Davit Hovhannisyan, who recited Paruyr Sevak's poem "I Want", took the third place in the Cavalier cultural competition.

Armenia finished third in the overall team standings.
