On April 16, 2008 RA President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on appointed former defense minister Mikael Harutyunyan as a chief military inspector of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

According to another decree signed by President Serzh Sargsyan Mikael Harutyunyan was appointed as an adviser to the President of the Republic of Armenia.
