Units of the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire in the direction of the Nerkin Hand settlement in the Syunik Province
On June 20, between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., units of the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire in the direction of the Nerkin Hand settlement in the Syunik Province, causing damage to a residential house. No casualties were reported. We urge the Azerbaijani side to conduct an investigation into the shelling of the residential house in Nerkin Hand and to provide public explanations regarding the incident.

ԱվելինThe delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the RA participated in an extended technical briefing on the Wassenaar Arrangement
On June 16–17, the delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, headed by Secretary General of the RA MoD Hamlet Batikyan, participated in an extended technical briefing on the Wassenaar Arrangement held in Vienna. The briefing focused on the control of military products and the process of updating the relevant control lists. Within the framework of the visit, the Armenian delegation held a private meeting with Mr. Kaifu Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan and Chair of the Wassenaar Arrangement, as well as with Mr. György Molnár, Ambassador and Head of Secretariat of the Wassenaar Arrangement. Discussions focused on cooperation within the framework of the Wassenaar Arrangement and opportunities for its further expansion. In addition, the delegation held separate bilateral meetings with partners from the United States and France, during which issues related to the control of military products and prospects for enhanced cooperation in this domain were addressed.

From June 9 to 13 the delegation from the National Defence College of India, headed by Major General Samarth Nagar, is paying a study visit to the Republic of Armenia. On June 9, the First Deputy Minister of Defence-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan received the delegation at the Ministry of Defence. During the meeting, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan briefed the delegation on the ongoing reforms within the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. The sides also exchanged views on issues related to regional and international security.

From June 3 to 5, the regular session of the working groups on the assessment of the Planning and Review Process (PARP) document, which coordinates the Armenia-NATO partnership, was held at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia. The meeting focused on reviewing the progress made in implementing the Partnership Goals outlined in the PARP document and on formulating further steps. Participants included representatives from the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, as well as other relevant governmental bodies, and NATO structures involved in the Armenia-NATO Planning and Review Process. Concluding the meeting, the Head of the Defence Policy and International Cooperation Department of the RA Ministry of Defence Levon Ayvazyan and Director of the NATO Defence and Security Cooperation Directorate Piers Cazalet, commended the quality and consistency of the partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Armenia-NATO cooperation.

On May 29, regular Armenia–United Kingdom consultations on defence issues were held at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia. During the consultations, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Major General Artur Yeroyan, presented to his British counterparts the ongoing transformation process of the Armenian army and discussed priority areas of reform. The discussions also covered regional and international security issues, as well as defence cooperation. The parties reviewed in detail the implementation of agreements reached during previous consultations and assessed the progress made under the bilateral cooperation program. Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation across a range of areas of mutual interest. At the conclusion of the consultations, the Head of the Defence Policy and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Levon Ayvazyan, and the UK Defence Ministry’s Director of Policy Affairs for Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, Christopher Key signed the Defence Cooperation Programme for 2025–2026.

On May 30, between 12:10 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire in the direction of the Khoznavar settlement in the Syunik Province, damaging the bathroom of a residential house and fatally wounding a small ruminant. We urge the Azerbaijani side to conduct an investigation into the incident and to provide public explanations regarding the shelling of the residential area in Khoznavar.

During the meeting, issues related to Armenia–Cyprus cooperation in the field of defence were discussed. Both sides also addressed cooperation within the Armenia–Greece–Cyprus trilateral format in the field of defence, as well as a number of issues related to regional and international security.

The delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Defence-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, is on an official visit to the Republic of Cyprus at the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Cyprus National Guard, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas. On May 22, an official welcoming ceremony was held in honor of Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, featuring a guard of honor and a military orchestra. The national anthems of Armenia and Cyprus were performed. Following the welcoming ceremony, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Edward Asryan, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Cyprus National Guard, Georgios Tsitsikostas, held discussions on a range of issues pertaining to Armenia–Cyprus cooperation in the defence sector.

On May 20, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, held a tête-à-tête meeting with the Minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics of the IRI, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh. This was followed by a meeting involving the extended delegations. The Ministers highly commended the level of cooperation between Armenia and Iran in the defence sector. Issues related to the course of cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran were discussed. The interlocutors also addressed a number of issues related to regional and international security.
