The next sitting of the Council of the Ministers of Defence of the CSTO member states took place

On December 1, the next sitting of the Council of the Ministers of Defence of the CSTO member states took place in the format of a video conference, which was attended by Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan.
During the sitting, the Ministers of Defence exchanged views on the international and regional security issues in the CSTO collective security regions.

The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia informed his colleagues about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, especially mentioning the issue of the significant reduction of the deadlines for the implementation of the mechanisms for responding to a crisis situation in the CSTO member states. Vagharshak Harutyunyan paid special attention to the efforts of the Russian Federation aimed at the stabilization of the military-political situation in the region, course and effectiveness of the Russian peacekeeping mission being carried out in Artsakh and emphasized the activities of the humanitarian nature. The Minister also stressed the importance of finding and exchanging the killed servicemen, captives, hostages and missing persons.

The Ministers of Defence approved the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council on the military cooperation development plan for 2021-2025 of the CSTO member states.

The issues on the agenda were discussed during the meeting, in particular, the ways of further development of the CSTO military component, measures to improve the training system for the personnel of the state institutions of the CSTO member states, training system for the personnel of the peacekeeping forces, etc. The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Tajikistan made a speech informing his colleagues about the priorities of the activities of CSTO in the military sphere during the chairmanship of Tajikistan in CSTO.

The next sitting of the Council of the Ministers of Defence of the CSTO member states is planned to be held in the first half of 2021 in the Republic of Tajikistan.
