The final live shooting stage of the battalion tactical exercise for the Armenian-Russian joint troops, that started on 1 April, was conducted at the Baghramyan Training Ground on 12 April.

It was attended by Armenian Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan and top officers of the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff.

The purpose of the drills was to synchronise joint operations of different units, to test the combat readiness of the personnel while carrying out joint drills.

During the large-scale exercise, drones, various weapons, artillery systems, heavy equipment and aviation were used. Over 1,500 troops were involved.

The uniqueness of the exercise was that it did not have a ready scenario, and the troops were given tasks as the situation evolved. Offensive, defensive and counterattack operations were conducted.

The commander of the joint forces, Maj-Gen Tigran Parvanyan, acclaimed the first results of the drills, saying that all the combat and shooting tasks were successfully fulfilled, and that the exercise served its purpose of ensuring that the Armenian-Russian joint forces are able to successfully coordinate their actions while carrying out joint tasks.
