Congratulating those present on Vazgen Sargsyan's 60th birthday, Armenia Minister of Defence Davit Tonoyan highlighted Vazgen Sargsyan's role as politician and military figure in the modern Armenian history and national victories.

"This day is another occasion to remember the person who has been honoured by the people as sparapet, to bow before his parents and loved ones relatives, to reassess his work and messages, to reconsider and put on a new path the works and initiatives that Vazgen and his friends started. Vazgen Sargsyan was a homeland defender and a writer and intellectual. But he was also a combination of both, and his name is equally linked to the formation of the Armenian regular army, volunteer movement and the establishment of the Yerkrapah Union," said Minister Tonoyan. The participants of the ceremony laid flowers at the graves of Vazgen Sargsyan, General Andranik the memorial wall dedicated to those who have sacrificed their lives for the homeland.
