Minister Tonoyan receives head of ICRC delegation to Armenia

Acting Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan received on 14 November the newly appointed head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Armenia, Mrs. Claire Meytraud.

Congratulating Mrs. Meytraud on her appointment, Minister Tonoyan highlighted the effective cooperation between the Armenian Ministry of Defence and the ICRC delegation to Armenia, and expressed hope that further joint programmes to be implemented will be of higher level.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation, upcoming tasks, the options for enhancing the cooperation, and future plans.

They also discussed issues related to clarifying the fates of the missing persons in the NK conflict, as well as other issues related to the coordination of the activities of the Armenian Agency on POWs, Hostages, Missing Persons and the ICRC.

Minister Tonoyan and Mrs Meytraud also spoke about the fate of Karen Ghazaryan, a resident of Berdavan village of Tavush Region, who has crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on 15 July, pointing to the importance of  the systematic work of the ICRC offices in Yerevan and Baku to ensure regular visits and correspondence with the family.
